MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — A Thursday gathering addressed the importance of workforce development programs during periods of record low unemployment.
The Unlocking Pathways Summit at Madison College had two secretaries with the Federal Department of Education and Governor Tony Evers speaking on partnerships between education and industry to encourage workforce growth. Evers said apprenticeships are a key part of that plan.
“Through our registered apprenticeship program folks can earn while they learn and gain new skills to help them advance their careers in their field of choice, or even enter a new industry altogether,” said Evers.
The governor also stressed the importance of providing additional funding for childcare, arguing it would allow more parents to enter the labor market.
