BARABOO, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Governor Tony Evers says the state will continue to bring high speed broadband to rural areas thanks to extra federal infrastructure funding.
Speaking at Farm Technology Days in Baraboo, Evers compared it to the electrification projects of the early 1900’s.
“Because we subsidize it. That’s how it worked with electricity. That’s always going to work now,” said Evers.
White House officials say the billion dollars that’s coming to the state as part of the new federal infrastructure act will go mostly towards laying fiber optic lines to parts of the state that need strong internet connections.
