CRANDON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — There’s more information about a midway ride malfunction at a Crandon fair Sunday.
The ‘mechanical failure’ of the “Fireball” ride at the Forest County Fair left riders suspended upside down for more than four hours.
A release from the Crandon Fire Department says one of the nine people treated by emergency medical responders was transported to a local hospital.
The Antigo Fire Department was called to the scene because it had a ladder truck to assist in the rescue, something the Crandon department reported it didn’t have.
The release adds that an off-duty firefighter with specialized rope rescue training advised Crandon Fire on possible rescue options.
