(WTAQ-WLUK) — An air quality alert has been issued for much of Wisconsin for Monday afternoon and evening.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says weather conditions combined with smoke from Canadian wildfires are likely to create ozone. The air quality index is expected to reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups to unhealthy level.
Those with lung disease, children, older adults and people who are active outdoors are advised to avoid prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion.
Northeast Wisconsin counties affected are Calumet, Florence, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, northern Marinette, Menominee, northern Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, Waupaca, Waushara and Winnebago.
The advisory runs until 11 p.m.
