MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Wisconsin Congressman Mark Pocan warns about the risks posed by some Republicans, as the House continues to fail to raise the nation’s debt ceiling.
Pocan says a number of Republicans are being too extreme in their negotiations.
“It’s a risky game to put everyone in the country’s economic well being at risk, which is what it is,” says Pocan. “Rising interest rates, having the stock market crash, having a lot of people lose their jobs; That is not worth the political games that they’re playing.”
Pocan said members of the Republican caucus who he called “exotics” are not interested in governing – and making it difficult to reach an agreement. He noted a debt limit bill passed by Republicans includes unacceptable cuts.
