MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — This year’s Mifflin Street Block Party in Madison included a firearms arrest.
Madison Police recovered a stolen handgun during an arrest at this year’s Mifflin Street Block Party over the weekend.
According to police, an adult man had the gun in his backpack.
As of 6 p.m. Saturday, officers had arrested 44 people, mostly for alcohol related offenses. Three people were taken to the Dane County Jail, including the man who had the handgun.
According to MPD, there were well over 10,000 attendees.
The annual event is often plagued by excessive drinking and property damage, and sometimes injuries as in last year’s collapse of a overcrowded second story porch.
There were no injuries reported this year.
