$560,000 in all will be going to 25 schools and districts in Wisconsin, including the Cedar Grove-Belgium District which was given the maximum “Fab Lab Grant” award to improve its STEAM curriculum.
Fab Lab is short for Fabrication Laboratory, a high-tech workshop equipped with computer-controlled manufacturing components like 3D printers, laser engravers, CNC routers and plasma cutters. The grant is made to K-12 schools in the state by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
The Cedar Grove-Belgium District received the maximum award of $25,000, with a matching requirement from the District. Over the past eight years the WEDC has invested more than $4.5 million to provide 118 schools across the state with the equipment needed to train students in skills that are in high demand among Wisconsin Employers.
