MINOCQUA, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Votes will start next week on the state budget.
The legislature’s joint finance committee was in Minocqua on Wednesday for its last public hearing ahead of the debate on the budget.
“Beginning tomorrow, and by early next week, we’ll start voting on the budget and crafting the legislative budget that we’ll send to the governor,” said Committee co-chair, Mark Born.
Republicans on the committee are expected to gut Governor Tony Evers’ spending plan and send their own package to his office.
This year’s budget will have to deal with billions of dollars in expected tax surplus.
