MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — U.S. Senator Ron Johnson on Monday renewed his call for a statewide referendum on abortion in Wisconsin.
“I’m not trying to dodge a question here. I’m trying to provide leadership in terms of how we can finally put this very divisive, profound moral issue behind us as a society.” said Johnson. “Let we the people decide. Again I don’t want I don’t want to impose my view on anybody else. I don’t.”
Johnson suggested voters could choose a range of options on when to protect life and could put down three choices. He made his comments at the Milwaukee Press Club. Wisconsin does not currently have the sort of direct referendum process Johnson is proposing.
