MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Republican lawmakers are holding hearings on what they claim is a lack of ideological diversity on UW campuses.
Representative Dave Murphy of Greenville chairs the Assembly Colleges and Universities Committee.
“We will look at how the lack of intellectual diversity affects graduates and employers in the business world.” said Murphy.
Murphy, who has accused colleges of “indoctrinating students,” was not clear whether the hearings will result in legislation.
“It’s certainly possible. I have no preconceived notions of where that’s going right now.” said Murphy. “We’ll wait and see what the experts are telling us.”
The first hearing is Thursday at the Capitol, with a second later this month at UW Eau Claire.
