WISCONSIN (WTAQ- WRN) — Low-income and elderly people who need help filing their taxes can find free help in the community.
In Dane County, those services are handled by the UW-Extension. Financial educator Clare Dahl says people can call up and get an appointment to handle simple returns.
“If they had to walk into a for-profit tax preparation business, that appointment might cost them, $200-300.” said Dahl.
Dane County residents can call 608-283-1261 to set up an appointment, and those outside of the are can find local help by calling 2-1-1.
