WISCONSIN (WTAQ-WRN) — State legislators want to toughen the penalties for reckless driving and make it easier to stop repeat reckless drivers.
The bills will double the penalties for reckless driving, and allow communities to impound the cars of reckless drivers if they don’t pay their fines.
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson says the people of Milwaukee want to put an end to the rise in reckless driving.
“This is a serious quality of life issue that we’ve been tackling for the last several years in the City of Milwaukee,” said Mayor Johnson. “These additional tools will put us in the position to be able to attack it even further.”
The bills got their first hearings in committee on Tuesday.
