A fire that erupted on Monday morning was quickly extinguished by Sheboygan Fire Department crews, limiting damage and preventing any injuries.
The call reporting a structure fire in the 1200 block of South 17th Street came in shortly after 9:30 Monday morning, and crews arrived at the scene within 3 minutes of being dispatched. Heavy smoke was seen coming from the first floor of the residence. Those living there had already evacuated, and firefighters were able to enter and extinguish the fire within minutes of their arrival.
Battalion Chief Chase Longmiller reports that 8 SFD units responded to the scene, nobody was displaced as a result, and damage was limited to $750. The event served as a reminder for everyone to have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in their home.
