A 48-year-old Phoenix, Arizona woman is cooling her heels in the Manitowoc County Jail. Valettamarie Campbell had been on the run under an active probation warrant and was being pursued by the U.S. Marshal’s Service.
Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Investigators became involved on January 31st when they got information from the West Valley Violent Offender Taskforce in Phoenix that Campbell may be staying in the Manitowoc area. She’d been confirmed as being in Manitowoc during the first week of January by U.S. Marshals, and evidence showed it was likely that she would return to a specific location.
This past Wednesday, USMS Task Force Officers, Manitowoc Police and County Sheriff’s Officers working with community members, confirmed Campbell’s return, set up surveillance and asked her to leave and speak with officers. When she refused to cooperate, Campbell was taken into custody and awaits extradition to Arizona where she’d previously been sentenced to probation for abduction of a child from a state agency and failing to report to probation authorities.
