Margaret “Peg” Lange, 83, of Sheboygan, passed away Thursday evening, January 26, 2023 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by her family.
Born May 29, 1939 in Milwaukee, Margaret was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Ruth Tetzlaff Cook. She attended Milwaukee area schools and graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in 1957. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from UW Milwaukee in 1967 and a Masters of Science in Educational Psychology in 1991. In August of 2001, she was united in marriage to Thomas F. Lange in Dundee, Scotland.
Peg was a teacher for many years. She started teaching kindergarten in Milwaukee before moving on to Maple Lawn Elementary School in Fredonia and finally worked for the Sheboygan Area School District. She was instrumental in the creation of and taught in the Teenage Parent Program (TAPP) in the Sheboygan School District. In addition, Peg was nominated for the Sheboygan Area School District Humanitarian of the Year Award. Years later, she received a Certificate of Appreciation for Public Service from the State of Wisconsin Joint Legislative Council for her contributions in forming adoption laws and future teenage parent programs. Peg was a talented violinist and played with the Sheboygan Symphony for 28 years. She was also instrumental in establishing the Ann Marie Home in Sheboygan and volunteered with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Sheboygan County. In her free time she enjoyed painting, playing the violin, making jewelry, spending time at her cottage on Lake Winnebago, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Lange; her children, Heather (Mary Koury) Haglund, Eric (Julie) Haglund, Anne (Brad) Larson, Matthew (Rachel) Lange, and Elizabeth (Drew) Liebhard; her grandchildren, Roger (Abby) Haglund, Mitchell (Tjorven Landwehr) Haglund, Jamie Ostrom, Erik (Wendy) Larson, and Hannah (Patrick Boucher) Larson; her great grandson, Jack Larson; her sisters, Pat (Bob) Haukohl and Carol (Mark) Goelzer; her brother, Kenneth (Ki) Cook; her aunt, Doris Mohr; her sisters-in-law, Mary Lange and Mary Ann (Wally) Dudzinske; and her beloved dog, Morky; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, James Lange.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
The family would like to thank Tammy from Home Instead, the nurses from St. Nicholas Hospital and the nurses and staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
