MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) – Four Wisconsin mayors are calling for an assault weapons ban.
The Democratic mayors of four of the state’s five largest cities – Milwaukee, Madison, Kenosha and Racine – co-signed a letter urging the U.S. Senate to ban assault weapons and expand mandated background checks for individuals seeking to buy guns.
The letter distributed by the nonpartisan US Conference of Mayors was signed by 73 mayors, most of them Democrats, who said their cities had experienced a mass shooting in 2022.
