A project to improve Highway 57 in Sheboygan County between Waldo and the junction with Highway 32 near Millhome will be the subject of a public meeting next week.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will detail proposed improvements at a 5 p.m. Tuesday (November 15) meeting at the Sheboygan County Transportation Department building on Highway โJโ north of Plymouth. Attendees are being directed to use Door 44 on the north side of the building.
The current plans include resurfacing by milling 2.5 inches and replacing it with a like depth of hot mix asphalt. Modifications to the four intersections are also planned, including installing a roundabout at 57 and โJโ, a heavily-populated intersection when events are being held at Road America. A so-called โRCutโ, or Restricted Crossing U-turn intersection, is planned for Highway 57 and โUโ, a design that claims to reduce right angle crashes by up to 75 percent. Improvements are also expected at intersections with County Highway โCโ and State Highway 28.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend the meeting to review project design details, displays and exhibits, ask questions, and provide commentary that may assist WisDOT during project design.
The release from the DOT also advised that members of the public who are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, may contact Kimberly Slezak, P.E., WisDOT Project Manager, 944 Vanderperren Way, Green Bay, WI 54304; Phone: 920-492-4131; Email: Kimberly.Slezak@dot.wi.gov. Persons who are deaf or hard of hearing and who require an interpreter may request one by contacting Ms. Slezak at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay System (dial 711).
