Sheboygan City Administrator Todd Wolf was suspended by the Sheboygan Common Council on Monday night, saying in a statement following the meeting that: “Without any notice, details, allegations, or cause against me, I was suspended by the Council and escorted out of the City like a criminal.”
Wolf’s removal from City Hall followed a 2-1/2 hour closed meeting that was convened at the request of what an attorney for Wolf describes as an “activist group” of “self-proclaimed extreme ‘diversity’ collectives” within City Government. The group, comprised of members of the City’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging group is, according to Wolf’s attorney, attempting a power grab through bribery, corruption, threats, political favors, wasting of taxpayer dollars, and discrimination practices at City Hall.
According to Wolf, “I denied a request for $70,000 of taxpayer money to members of the Sheboygan DEIB group who promised they would publicly oppose me if I didn’t give them the money. These activists went to council, and they listened.”
Wolf said the group provided “no written proposal, zero oversight, no programs, and no solutions” while demanding the money be used to “give the City approved diversity experts” or else they would target Wolf and any efforts Wolf made to implement diversity training of his choosing.
The case, as of now, centers around a racial slur used by a local resident which, according to Director of Planning and Development Chad Pelishek, was discussed in a closed management meeting among City officials so as to ensure a repeat doesn’t occur. When demanded by Senior Services Director Emily Rendall-Araujo to repeat the entire phrase to her, Pelishek quoted the phrase including the racial slur. Wolf’s lawyer said that Rendall-Araujo immediately contacted those in her political network to set the wheels in motion to target both Wolf and Pelishek.
Wolf, meeting at his home with his attorney following last night’s meeting, received an 11:30 p.m. visit from a Sheboygan Police Officer who then served him with a basic notice that he was not to communicate with City employees or “set foot on City grounds” despite having been given no description of the allegations against him.
WHBL contacted Mayor Sorenson for his comments – he did not reply as of Tuesday morning.
(In our commitment to be transparent and fair, WHBL wishes to disclose that the attorney hired to represent Todd Wolf in this matter, is the wife of our Jon DeMaster.)
