The rate of change in COVID-19 stats within Sheboygan County is modest, while another disease – Monkeypox – is now being countered with its own vaccine.
As for COVID-19, another 106 cases were noted within the past reporting period ending on Friday with a total of 33,111 recorded during the pandemic in Sheboygan County.
There were more cases recorded per 100,000 persons in the past week at 120.51 – than the 95.37 logged previously. Hospital admissions dropped nearly by half with 4.9 per 100,000 this past week, compared with 8.5 previously. 3 additional persons needed first-time hospitalization in Sheboygan County, putting that total at 1,312, and 5 are currently hospitalized. That compares with 11 the previous week, and constitutes 3.1% of beds, one percent less than previously reported. Given those statistics, the rate of transmission in Sheboygan County remains “Low”.
Bivalent boosters which protect against the Omicron, as well as previous variants of the COVID virus, are now being given to those 12 years and older (Pfizer), and the Moderna booster is available to those at least 18 years old. Both are available during the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health’s “Walk-in-Wednesday” events, but supplies are limited and appointments are recommended by going online here.
Per Wisconsin DHS approval, the Sheboygan County DPH began administering the JYNNEOS Monkeypox vaccine to eligible populations on Tuesday the 13th. Those criteria can be found here.
