MADISON, WI (WSAU) The campaigns of the two candidates for governor have agreed to debate just once between now and election day.
The debate will be on October 14th in Madison.
Tony Evers and Tim Michels released a joint statement on Monday: “There are plenty of differences between the two candidates, but we agree that voters deserve this opportunity to hear directly from each candidate,” said Evers’ campaign manager Cassi Fenili and Michels’ campaign manager Patrick McNulty in the joint statement. “This will be the only debate between the candidates before the November election.”
It will be hosted by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.
Evers and Michels will be questioned by a panel of reporters. The panel hasn’t been announced yet.
Evers and former governor Scott Walker debated twice during the fall 2018 campaign. Before the August primary, Michels debated his GOP rivals once in a televised debate and once in a radio debate.
