GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Republican US Senator Ron Johnson is pushing back against attacks from Democratic President Joe Biden and Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes, who is challenging Johnson in November.
Johnson appeared Tuesday on ‘The Regular Joe Show’, a day after President Biden attacked Johnson in Milwaukee on Monday, saying Johnson supports putting Social Security and Medicare at risk, something Johnson says isn’t true.
“Do you know of any elected official who has proposed cutting or ending social security? Of course not,” said Johnson. “Why would I be the only one?”
Johnson says he actually wants to save those programs by reducing the national debt.
“They’ve trotted this out for all three of my campaigns that I want to cut or end or put on the chopping block social security and medicare,” said Johnson. “Nothing could be further from the truth.”
Johnson also attacked his opponent, Mandela Barnes, during his Tuesday radio appearance.
“We can’t let Mandela Barnes become a US Senator. He’s a radical leftist trying to pose as a moderate. He’s no moderate.” “Biden and Barnes can’t defend their policy prescriptions that have produced all of these disasters, the open borders, the four-year high inflation, the record gas prices, the rise in crime, so they attack my character.”
Barnes appeared in Green Bay on Tuesday. A spokesperson for Johnson held a press event outside of the Barnes appearance.
