Wauzeka, Wis. – Bob Mitchell of Spring Creeks Cattle Company in Crawford County has been appointed by the Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Association (WCA) to represent the state’s cattle producers and their approximately 3 million cattle on the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) Traceability Working Group.
The 25-member group is tasked with developing a voluntary, nationally significant, globally accepted, electronic animal disease traceability system for all cattle entering commerce. The group has been working for several months and is scheduled to complete its work by the NCBA National Convention in February 2023 in New Orleans.
Mitchell is a Board Member of the Wisconsin Livestock Identification Consortium (WLIC) and previously served on the Cattlemen’s Beef Board (CBB) Executive Committee as Co-Chair of the Beef Checkoff Safety Committee and an ex-officio of the WI Beef Council.
