Sheboyganโs Independence Day celebration got off to a near perfect start on Monday, with Sheboygan Mayor Ryan Sorenson sounding an enthusiastic note as he readied for his second 4th of July Parade as Mayor. He said โSheboygan has one of the best 4th of July Parades in the United States, so itโs just amazing to see the community come out, celebrate our country, and all of the wonderful things that are going on here in Sheboygan. So, Sheboygan does it rightโฆwe do the 4th of July the best in all of Wisconsin.โ
And with several thousands lining the streets, weather was idealโฆto start, and Sorenson was hopeful it would stay that way despite a forecast of rain later in the day, saying: โWeโre hoping weโre a โgoโ tonight. Weโre lookinโ at the weather, but itโs a green light right now, so keep the faith!โ
But faith wasnโt enough to hold off the storms and the City made the call just before 6 p.m. to postpone the fireworks show by one day, even though the rest of activities continued beneath the tent at Deland Park.
As for tonight, the show is scheduled for 9:30 and observers are reminded that the rules still prohibit alcohol on any city beach, but it will be allowed on the grassy area of Deland Park south of the pier and at King Park. You can expect parking restrictions and traffic control patterns for getting back home afterwards. You can find those details from the City of Sheboygan website here.
