MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Cleanup efforts from Wednesday’s storms have not yet included state resources, but emergency managers at that level are keeping an eye on things.
After activating a level 3 response Wednesday evening, the state emergency management office says they have reverted back to a level 5 response, meaning they are now running a normal operations status.
A level 3 response involves partial activation for the purpose of monitoring weather forecasts.
According to Wisconsin Emergency Management, the only state resources called in were for aerial damage surveys in western Wisconsin.
Emergency managers from Monroe to Marinette Counties have reported downed trees, damage to buildings, and power outages. As of Thursday morning, nearly 90,000 electric customers remain disconnected.
According to Wisconsin Public Service and WE Energies, a total of 160,000 customers lost power at some point during the storms.
Anyone with significant damage is asked to report it to the local government and document the damage. Debris disposal instructions will also be provided by local agencies.
Multiple tornado warnings were issued for the storm as it moved northeast across Wisconsin. Tornados have been reported in Mauston, Tomah, and Shawano County.
