WEST ALIS, WI (WSAU) — Toby Keith has called off a series of shows as he battles stomach cancer, including his scheduled performance at the Wisconsin State Fair this summer.
Organizers announced that his August 4th mainstage show has been canceled, and anyone who purchased tickets will receive a full refund.
“Our hearts go out to Toby, his family, and his dedicated fans. During this difficult time, Toby Keith and his team have made the decision to focus on his health; therefore, he will not be performing his Wisconsin State Fair show,” state fair officials said in a statement.
Those who purchased tickets online will get their refunds automatically via the debit or credit card used for payment. Those who purchased tickets in person at the fair box office can get their money back by visiting the fair box office and bringing the tickets and a photo ID.
Over the weekend the performer announced that he received the cancer diagnosis last fall and has been taking chemotherapy treatments. While things have been “so far, so good,” he said he does need time to rest and recover.
