June 8, 2022 – Sheboygan County 4-H Camp, taking place July 10-13, 2022 will utilize youth leaders who prepare, plan and facilitate the summer camp experience for campers’ grades 3-6.
“This camp opportunity is not only one of the most affordable around, but it also is unique in that older youth are trained throughout the Spring and Summer to take real leadership in the camp,” says Sarah Tarjeson, 4-H Youth Development Educator in Sheboygan County. Youth leaders are supported by caring adult volunteers also trained through the Youth Development Institute of UW-Madison, Division of Extension.
The camp takes place at Upham Woods in Wisconsin Dells, will take 80 campers to spend three nights and four days in cabins participating in all things camp including recreations, swimming, archery, crafts, and nature programming. Participants do not need to be enrolled in the 4-H program to participate. The 4-H Summer Camp registration fee is $200. Transportation is provided and busses depart from the fairgrounds in Plymouth at Noon on July 10th.
Youth are assigned cabin groups. These groups are the same groups that participate in activities, sleep in cabins and build strong friendships. Participants have a chance to identify a same-age buddy that they would like to be cabinmates with when registering. In addition, several all-camp activities bring the entire camp together.
The 4-H Program is the flagship youth development program of the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Division of Extension.
