MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Officers in Madison say a fire at the Wisconsin Family Action office was intentionally set Sunday morning.
Police Chief Shon Barnes released a statement on Sunday saying:
“It appears a specific non-profit that supports anti-abortion measures was targeted.
Our department has and continues to support people being able to speak freely and openly about their beliefs.
But we feel that any acts of violence, including the destruction of property, do not aid in any cause.”
Barnes noted that last week’s news of a potential Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe vs Wade stirred “deep emotions” within the community.
Madison Police are working with federal partners and the Madison Fire Department to investigate the case. An update is expected Monday afternoon.
