Ronald S. “Ron” Knier, age 71, the Town of Silver Cliff, WI, passed away unexpectedly on
Monday, April 18, 2022.
Ron was born on March 21, 1951, to August and Betty (Franzmeier) Knier, in Sheboygan. He
graduated from Sheboygan South High School. Ron started his working career at Piggly Wiggly
as a bagger/stocker at 16 years old and retired as the Meat Manager. In 2009, Ron was united
in marriage to Roberta (Boldt) Somers.
Ron was very passionate about the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and spent
as much time in the woods and on the lake as he could. Ron also enjoyed watching NASCAR and
Old Westerns. He traveled a lot with his mother across the US. He also took many hunting and
fishing trips to Canada, and always had the best stories to tell. He was a wonderful cook and
baker and was always trying new recipes that he found.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Roberta; brother, Rick Knier; niece, Emily Knier; brothers-in-
law and sisters-in-law, Linda (Jerry) Smith, Steven (Diana Ankrom- Butts) Boldt, June Dolgner,
Diane (Craig Scott) Kearns, Frank (Ginger Pamperin) Boldt, Gary (Rosalin Bowey) Boldt, Peter
(Laura Pamperin) Boldt, Jack Boldt, and Roxanne Markham; and other relatives and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, August and Betty; sister, Patricia Lade; father-in-law
and mother-in-law, Russell and Carol Boldt; and brother-in-law, Carl Boldt.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Ron at 7:00 PM on April 28, 2022, at Zimmer-Westview
Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center (W2132 Garton Road, Sheboygan, WI 53083) with
Deacon Mike Burch officiating. A public visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until the time of the
service at the funeral home.
A Celebration of Life in Silver Cliff, WI, will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Ron’s name.
