18,906, or 33% of eligible Sheboygan County voters, turned out to cast ballots in Tuesday’s Spring Election, and with 100% of results in, one race appears to be up in the air with another extremely close.
Preliminary results for the position of Alderperson in Sheboygan’s District 10 have challenger Joseph Heidemann leading incumbent Andre Walton by a single vote: 403-402. And in Sheboygan Falls voters in District 2 chose Rachel Margaret Howard over incumbent Paul Jensen by just seven votes. Wisconsin law allows a challenge when the margin is 40 votes or less in a race with fewer than 4,000 votes, but there’s no word if that will be pursued in either race.
In other aldermanic races in Sheboygan, District 2 Alderperson Roberta Filicky-Peneski easily defeated challenger John Ranieri 558-345; District 4 Alderperson Betty Ackley survived a challenge by Debra Yochis 153-121; Incumbent Dean Dekker will keep his seat after defeating Mark Hermann 289-138. District 8 will be represented by Zachary Rust who beat Jesse Roethel 312-230 for the position filled by Leslie Laster when Ryan Sorenson was elected Mayor last year. Other aldermanic races in the City of Sheboygan were unchallenged.
Sheboygan County voters agreed with the state vote overall in electing Maria Lazar as District 2 Court of Appeals Judge by a vote of 9,346 to 8,716 over sitting Judge Lori Kornblum who was appointed by Governor Evers last November.
