(Reuters) – The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Tuesday updated its recommendation to allow certain immunocompromised individuals and people over the age of 50 to receive an additional booster dose of COVID-19 vaccines.
The additional booster is allowed for only those that received an initial mRNA booster shot at least 4 months ago, the CDC said.
The decision follows the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s authorization for a second booster dose for the age group earlier on Tuesday.
