OCONTO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Suring Schools Supt. Kelly Casper made her initial appearance Wednesday on false imprisonment charges related to searches of students for vaping materials.
While searching for the vaping devices, Casper allegedly illegally confined the students. The district attorney previously had ruled the searches themselves were not illegal conduct.
Judge Michael Judge set a $5,000 signature bond. Casper returns to court April 28, when her motion to dismiss the charges will be heard.
Also in court Monday, one parent spoke and a victim impact statement from one of the students was read.
Casper is currently on paid administrative leave from the school district.
