An area State Patrol Trooper was given his second award for excellence in public service during ceremonies held on Thursday.
Trooper Cameron Doute, who serves our district from the State Patrol’s Fond du Lac headquarters, was recognized for his actions when he was sent to a home in Sheboygan County on May 30th to help an unresponsive man. Trooper Doute and officers from the Plymouth Police Department found the man on the floor, unresponsive from an apparent overdose, without a pulse and not breathing. Working together, Doute and the officers started CPR, set up a mask for rescue breaths and administered two doses of naloxone. Trooper Doute continued compressions until the man started breathing and his pulse returned, eventually regaining consciousness. For his efforts, Trooper Doute received the Lifesaving Award during Thursday’s ceremonies held on Facebook due to the pandemic.
This was Doute’s second lifesaving award, having been honored the previous year for another overdose response in Fond du Lac in January of 2020.
