(WHBL) – Voters could soon decide if outside groups should be able to give local election offices in Wisconsin millions of dollars.
Republicans at the Capitol are pushing a constitutional amendment that would ban the so-called Zuckerbucks. Those are the donations from the Mark Zuckerberg-funded Center for Tech and Civic Life that played a role in the 2020 election. The group spent nine million-dollars in Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Racine, and Kenosha.
Republicans say the group all but took over the election operation in Green Bay.
By pushing the ban as a constitutional amendment, Governor Tony Evers cannot veto the plan on his own.
