
Robert E. “Bob” Blanke, age 89, of Plymouth, passed away early Tuesday
Morning (December 7, 2021) at Aurora Sheboygan Medical Center.
Bob was born on February 16, 1932 in the Town of Lyndon, WI, a son of the late
Clarence and Leona (Falk) Blanke.
He attended Cascade Area Grade School and graduated from Plymouth High
School in 1949.
On November 29, 1952 he married Bernice Miske at Salem United Church of
Christ in Plymouth. The couple resided in Plymouth following their marriage and
were fortunate to have traveled the world together. She preceded him in death on
October 5, 2010.
Bob served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War in the European theatre
from 1952 – 1954 in Triest, Italy. In 2014, Bob and his son Jeff went on the
Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
He worked for Gabe’s Construction Company for 44 years as an underground
ULT superintendent
Bob was a former member at Salem United Church of Christ where he held all
offices and positions in the Church. He served for 22 years on the Plymouth
Hospital Board, including holding the office of President. Bob was also a proud
member of the Plymouth Lions Club where he served as past President of the
organization from 1992-1993 and had perfect attendance for 24 years; he was a
recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award and Lifetime Membership Award.
He was Chairman of the Lions Cheese Stand at the County Fair for 22 years.
He started and directed for 10 years the First Plymouth Campfire Camping
Week. (He was called Mr. B by all the girls.) With five others, he started the
Plymouth Junior Football League.
Bob spent ten very enjoyable and tough years as a Plymouth School Board
Member and also served on other civic committees at various times, and was a
volunteer reader for the 3 rd grade class at Fairview Elementary School for many
years.
Survivors include: Son: Jeff Blanke of Plymouth; Three daughters: Cindi (Scott)
Ninmer of Kiel, Amy Blanke of Colorado Springs, CO, and Penny Kohlman of
Cedarburg; Four Grandchildren: Tyler Kohlman (special friend: Gabby) of Oxford,
WI, Abbie Kohlman of Colorado Springs, CO, Melissa (Wyatt) Ploetz of West
Bend, and Bridget (Natalie) Ninmer-Allesee of St. Paul, MN; Great-grandchild:
Maci Ploetz.
He is further survived by: Sister: Anita Roselck of Milwaukee; Brother: Elroy
(Audrey) Blanke of Michigan; Sisters-in-law: Florence Blanke of Crystal Lake and
Barbara Miske of Plymouth; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives,
and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by: Two sisters: Caroline Blanke and Dorothy
Commins; Two brothers: Darwin and Melvin Blanke; Three sisters-in-law: Betty
Blanke, Betty Rabe, and Carol Huebner; and Three brothers-in-law: Jerry
Roselck, Harry Commins and Arno Rabe.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday (December 18, 2021) at 1:00 PM at
the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Pastor Dale Miller of Salem Plankroad
UCC will officiate. Burial will be in the Plymouth Woodlawn and military rites will
be accorded by the Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612.
Visitation will take place on Saturday (Dec. 18) at the Suchon Funeral Home in
Plymouth from 10:00 AM until the time of services. For public safety and family’s
wishes, MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Bob’s name for the Plymouth Lions
Club, Juvenile Diabetes Research foundation (JDRF), or Plymouth Junior
Football.
