Stephen Curry connected on nine 3-pointers and scored 40 points Friday night as the Golden State Warriors completed a franchise-record-tying, eight-game homestand with a 119-93 blowout win over the Chicago Bulls in San Francisco.
Andrew Wiggins had 15 points, Kevon Looney grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and Draymond Green turned in another strong all-around game for the Warriors, who opened their 16-day homestand with a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies before rattling off seven straight wins.
Zach LaVine had 23 points and DeMar DeRozan 18 for the Bulls, who began a five-game trip without Nikola Vucevic after the big man tested positive for COVID-19 earlier in the week.
The 40-point game was the 52nd of his career. Curry has made nine or more 3-pointers 36 times, an NBA record. James Harden and Damian Lillard are tied for the second-most such games in NBA history with nine.
Nuggets 105, Hawks 96
Nikola Jokic had 22 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists in his return from a one-game suspension, and host Denver beat Atlanta.
Jokic was suspended for Wednesday’s win over Indiana after his actions against Miami on Monday night. He notched his 59th career triple-double in this one, tying Larry Bird for eighth all-time. Aaron Gordon had a season-high 23 points, Jeff Green added 16, Bones Hyland scored a career-high 15 points and P.J. Dozier had 12 for Denver, which has won four straight.
Trae Young had 30 points and nine assists, John Collins scored 26 and pulled down nine rebounds, Clint Capela had 14 points and 13 rebounds and Bogdan Bogdanovic scored 10 for the Hawks, who have lost six straight.
Timberwolves 107, Lakers 83
Karl-Anthony Towns scored 18 of his 29 points in the third quarter and visiting Minnesota ended a six-game losing streak by cruising to a victory over Los Angeles.
D’Angelo Russell scored 22 points for the Timberwolves, who opened the second half on a 29-4 run and held the Lakers without a field goal for a 7:33 stretch of the third quarter. Naz Reid scored 12 points for Minnesota, while Patrick Beverley had 11.
Anthony Davis amassed 22 points and eight rebounds as the Lakers scored a season low in points and lost for the third time in five games since LeBron James got hurt. Russell Westbrook scored 20 points for the Lakers, who also were without Austin Reaves (hamstring).
Hornets 104, Knicks 96
Miles Bridges scored 24 points and Gordon Hayward added 22 points for host Charlotte, who stormed back from a 16-point, first-half deficit to beat New York.
LaMelo Ball produced 12 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists while Terry Rozier contributed 18 points and Kelly Oubre Jr. had 12 points for the Hornets, who have won two straight. Oubre’s 3-pointer with 3:36 left gave Charlotte the lead for good at 96-93.
Kemba Walker, who played his first eight NBA seasons for the Hornets, scored a game-high 26 points for the Knicks, who have lost five of seven. Alec Burks had 15 points off the bench while Mitchell Robinson scored 11 points and Julius Randle added 10 points.
Celtics 122, Bucks 113 (OT)
Dennis Schroder scored a season-high 38 points, Jayson Tatum added 27 points and 11 rebounds and host Boston held off short-handed Milwaukee in overtime.
Schroder, who also grabbed eight rebounds, scored eight of the Celtics’ 14 points in overtime as Boston outscored Milwaukee by nine in the extra period. Marcus Smart added 19 points and Robert Williams III had 12 and 10 boards for the Celtics, who have won back-to-back games and four of their last five.
Bobby Portis had 22 points and was one of six double-digit scorers for Milwaukee, which played without both of its All-Stars against Boston as Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton sat out.
Cavaliers 98, Pistons 78
Darius Garland matched his season high with 21 points and Cedi Osman added 17 as Cleveland cruised to a victory over visiting Detroit.
Evan Mobley had 16 points and seven rebounds for Cleveland, which shot 47.6 percent from the field and led by as many as 27 in the fourth quarter. Jarrett Allen added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Detroit committed 23 turnovers and lost for the ninth time in 11 games. Jerami Grant scored 16 points while Frank Jackson had 12 and Josh Jackson added 11.
Suns 119, Grizzlies 94
Jae Crowder and Devin Booker scored 17 points apiece, Chris Paul compiled a double-double and Phoenix used a 36-point first quarter to run away from host Memphis.
Paul finished with 15 points, a game-high 12 assists and five steals for the Suns, who won their seventh in a row as they tipped off a three-game road trip.
Ja Morant led all scorers with 26 points for the Grizzlies, who completed a three-game homestand with a second straight defeat.
Nets 120, Pelicans 112
James Harden had 39 points and 12 assists and visiting Brooklyn had too much firepower for slumping New Orleans.
Kevin Durant added 28 points and Joe Harris scored 24 as the Nets won for the seventh time in their last eight games.
Jonas Valanciunas had his 11th consecutive double-double, finishing with 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Pelicans, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a ninth consecutive loss.
Trail Blazers 104, Rockets 92
Damian Lillard scored 20 points, Nassir Little chipped in a double-double off the bench and Portland earned its first road win by beating Houston.
Lillard added six rebounds and seven assists to pace a balanced attack for Portland. C.J. McCollum added 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists while Little (13 points, 14 boards) led the bench brigade. The Trail Blazers received 42 points from their reserves.
The Rockets dropped their 10th consecutive game and were undone by their poor shooting. Houston finished 34 for 85 from the floor and missed 25 of 32 3-pointers.
Thunder 105, Kings 103
Luguentz Dort recorded a steal and a layup in the final seconds to lift Oklahoma City to a dramatic win over visiting Sacramento.
The Kings had the ball in the closing seconds, dribbling down the clock for a final shot before Dort made his move, lunging out at De’Aaron Fox, knocking the ball away and charging toward the bucket, where he laid it up over Buddy Hield with 1.7 seconds left to put the Thunder in front. Dort finished with 22 points.
Harrison Barnes led Sacramento with 21 points. Richaun Holmes had 16 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks.
Mavericks 123, Spurs 109
Kristaps Porzingis scored a season-high 32 points and Luka Doncic added a triple-double as visiting Dallas set the pace early in a win over San Antonio.
Porzingis missed the first two meetings of the year between the teams but made up for lost time, scoring 23 of his points by halftime as the Mavericks led by 11 at the break.
Doncic racked up 32 points, 15 assists and 12 rebounds, Jalen Brunson scored 17 points and Dorian Finney-Smith added 15 as the Mavericks won for the fourth time in five games. Dallas has won all three games against San Antonio this season.
