KENOSHA, WI (WRN) — Kenosha County Judge Bruce Schroeder has dismissed a juror in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial, for telling a joke about the police shooting of Jacob Blake.
“The public needs to be confident that this is a fair trial,” said Schroeder. “At the very most it was bad judgement to tell a joke of that nature.”
The juror was dismissed Thursday morning after telling a deputy the joke earlier this week. Rittenhouse is on trial for fatally shooting two men and wounding a third during a night of protest and rioting following the August 2020 shooting of Blake.
The remaining jurors – 11 women and 8 men – will be narrowed to 12 once deliberations begin.
