MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Rolling averages of new COVID-19 cases and deaths continued their decline over the weekend.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 1,192 new cases on Sunday, with the seven-day average dropping to 2,158.
Test positivity averaged 7.9% for the most recent seven-day period.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention transmission map showed all of Wisconsin in the “high” category for virus activity.
With no deaths reported Sunday, the seven-day average fell to 15. It was the first day with no deaths reported since Oct. 2.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 769,212 total cases and 8,251 deaths.
As of Monday, 57.4% of the state’s population had received at least one dose of vaccine and 54.7% had completed their vaccine series.

Last week, 31,649 doses of vaccine were administered. That was the fewest since the week of Dec. 20, 2020, when only certain workers and at-risk people were eligible to be vaccinated.
Hospitalizations increased on Monday. The Wisconsin Hospital Association reported treating 1,061 COVID-19 patients, 23 more than on Sunday but 118 fewer than a week earlier. Of those, 313 were in intensive care, 24 more than on Sunday but four fewer than a week earlier.
Of the 1,353 ICU beds in Wisconsin, 8.8% were immediately available.
Northeast region hospitals had 154 COVID-19 patients, 11 more than on Sunday but 20 fewer than a week earlier. Of those, 43 were in ICUs, up 11 in a day and flat over a week. In the Fox Valley region, there were 81 COVID-19 patients, one more than on Sunday but 20 fewer than a week earlier. Sixteen of those were in ICUs, up three in a day but down seven over a week.
