The end of Sheboygan’s Marsho Clinic as we know it has many patients scrambling to complete business with the doctors they’ve known, but may not be able to see again for some time.
Marsho informed their clients last weekend through letters and text messages that they will close on October 29th. On Monday, November 1st Prevea will begin operations at the Taylor Drive location north of St. Nicholas Hospital.
Because of a non-compete clause in their contracts, none of the Marsho Primary Physicians will be able to practice in Sheboygan County for 18 months after the takeover. Nearly all have been taken in by Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network and will practice for now in Manitowoc, Mequon and West Bend.
Doug Marx, the Chief Medical Officer and Vice President at Froedtert, said they’re excited and pleased to add the Marsho physicians, and said that many of them will be able to return to practice in early 2023 in Plymouth, or at a new Froedtert facility that’s planned for Sheboygan.
Meanwhile, Marsho patients now have to choose to either transfer to Froedtert to see their familiar doctors, or make arrangements with a new Prevea doctor at the old Marsho Clinic beginning in November.
