SAN FRANCISCO, CA (WHBL) – A four-run 8th inning lifted the San Francisco Giants to a 5-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday afternoon.
Jace Peterson brought home the lone run for the Brewers in the 4th on a line drive to center field. That scored Luis Urias.
Logan Webb racked up double-digit strikeouts for the Giants. The right-hander struck out 10 over seven innings of one-run ball, but took a no-decision. Tyler Rogers was the winning pitcher, earning his fifth victory in relief.
The Brewers managed just five hits in the game. In fact, no Brewers player had more than one hit in the game.
Eric Lauer went 7 innings for Milwaukee, scattering three hits and giving up one earned run. Devin Williams allowed all four runs in the 8th and was charged with the loss.
Brewers manager Craig Counsell was ejected in the 9th inning.
Despite the loss, Milwaukee took 3 of 4 from the Giants.
The Brewers now sit at 82-53 on the season and will welcome the St. Louis Cardinals to American Family Field for the weekend. Game one of the three-game series will be Friday night. Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 6:35.
