Frederick O. “Fritz” Hofmann, Sr., 90, of Sheboygan, passed away Thursday morning, August 19, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born June 9, 1931 in Sheboygan, Frederick was a son of the late Otto and Katherine Zach Hofmann, Sr. He attended Lyman School. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Airforce in 1948 1953. On October 4, 1958, he was united in marriage to Mary C. Horn at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. They were married for 59 years before Mary preceded him in death on June 8, 2018.
Fritz worked in the warehouse for many years at Schultz-Sav-O Foods until his retirement. He previously was a brewer at the Kingsbury Brewing Company. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. He was also a member of the D’Werdenfelser Schuhplattlers Club, Bavarian Society and the sports club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, traveling and playing cards with their many friends.
He is survived by his four sons, Jim (Joan), Kurt (Sandy), Keith and Fred, Jr. (Rebecca) Hofmann, 5 grandchildren; Brandon (Brenda), Megan (Stuart Deckert), Ashley, Abigail and Owen, 2 great grandsons; Easton & Reed; a great granddaughter, Eliose; his brother, Otto (Mary) Hofmann;, a sister-in-law, Geraldine Hasting and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and his wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by his brother, Hank.
A memorial services for Fritz will take place on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in Calvary Mausoleum.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff, especially Chaplain Donna, Felicia, Karrah, Rebecca, Jamie and Holly, of St. Nicholas Hospice and Meals on Wheels for all of their loving care and support.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Frederick’s arrangements.
