MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Officials with the Wisconsin Lottery have announced plans to join other statewide lottery associations in a third weekly Powerball drawing starting August 23rd.
“We’re excited to offer our players more chances to play for larger and faster-growing jackpots by adding a third weekly drawing to Powerball,” said Director of the Wisconsin Lottery, Cindy Polzin. “According to the Powerball Product Group, we expect to see more cash prizes and higher jackpots awarded each year.”
All Powerball tickets sold on Sunday, August 22nd will be for the new Monday drawing the next day.
The move will not change the current prize structure, cost, or gameplay procedures. Powerball drawings will still consist of five numbers between 1 and 69 and a single Powerball number between 1 and 26. Power Play will still be used to multiply certain prizes for an additional cost.
The change will bring the number of national lottery drawings each week from four to five. Powrball will now be played on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, with Mega Millions drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays.
