GREEN BAY, WI (WHBL) – Jordan Love made his long-awaited NFL debut for the Packers in a 26-7 loss to the Texans on Saturday night.
Love played the first half of the game. He completed 12-of-17 passes and threw one touchdown.
Coach Matt LeFleur wanted Love to play three quarters. The coach said Love “got dinged” while being sacked in the first half. Love was hit from the blind side and fumbled, injuring his shoulder on the play.
Love, the team’s top pick in the 2020 draft, was playing in his first NFL game. The team went three-and-out on Love’s first two drives at the helm. The third possession resulted in an 89-yard touchdown drive. The Packers scored on a 22-yard screen pass to Kylin Hill. Many observers described Love’s debut as “rusty” and “uneven.”
The Packers rested all of their key starters on offense. 30 players were listed as inactive.
The Packers next game is Saturday at Lambeau Field against the Jets.
