LA CROSSE, WI (WTAQ) – A Democrat from western Wisconsin will not be seeking re-election in 2022.
Representative Ron Kind has represented the state’s 3rd Congressional District since 1997, and is currently the state’s longest-serving member of Congress. He told reporters during a press conference on Tuesday:
“The truth is I’ve run out of gas.”
Kind won a close race in his latest re-election bid, defeating Republican challenger Derrick Van Orden by just about 10,000 votes. Kind had cast himself as a political moderate against the Trump-endorsed, retired Navy SEAL.
The partisan primary for the seat will be held in August 2022.
