ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) — Around $130 million in American Rescue Plan funding will be made available as a community grant program through the state of Wisconsin to aid in workforce development efforts.
Governor Tony Evers announced the program today in Ashwaubenon.
“We will invest $100 million dollars in local communities to help them implement innovative, long term solutions to challenges they face at the local level,” Evers said. “We will offer up $10 million in grants to at least ten local and regional collaborations that represent the best thinking we have here in Wisconsin.”
Evers is also investing $20 million into the Workforce Development Initiative, which provides subsidized workforce opportunities and $10 million for a Worker Connection Program which will provide access to workforce career coaches. Evers said the investment was brought on by the ongoing workforce shortage in the state.
Evers spoke at Titletown Tech within Ashwaubenon’s Titletown District.
