NEW YORK, NY (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers split their doubleheader with the Mets in New York on Wednesday.
New York took the first game, winning 4-3 in eight innings. Jeff McNeil hit the game-winning two-run RBI single. Brent Suter gave up the final two runs to take the loss. All-Star Jacob deGrom struck out ten over seven frames, reaching 1,500 career strikeouts. Edwin Diaz earned his third win in relief.
The Brewers responded in the nightcap, beating the Mets 5-0. Manny Pina, Willy Adames and Luis Urias all homered for Milwaukee.
Jake Cousins got his first major league win in relief. The Brewers have thrown nine shutouts this season.
With the win, Milwaukee snapped a three-game losing skid.
The Brewers are back home for a four-game series with the Cincinnati Reds beginning Thursday night. Tune in for pregame coverage on WHBL at 6:35.
