The driver of an SUV involved in a two-vehicle crash in Manitowoc County on Monday was killed in the crash.
According to Sheriff Dan Hartwig, deputies and EMS personnel responded at about 7:45 AM on Monday to Highway 10 and Manitowoc County Road “P” in the township of Manitowoc Rapids, where a preliminary investigation shows that 68-year-old Daniel Faken of rural Manitowoc was driving a milk truck eastbound on Highway 10, while an SUV operated by 86-year-old John Konop of Manitowoc entered the intersection from northbound Highway “P” and was struck by the milk truck. Konop sustained fatal blunt-force injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene; the operator of the milk truck wasn’t injured.
The highway was closed for about 2-1/2 hours, and the crash remains under investigation.
