Wisconsin State Senator Devin Lemahieu
State Senator Devin LeMahieu of Oostburg, along with 22 other Republicans and three Democrats, passed the state budget bill on Wednesday, sending the $87 billion spending document on to Governor Evers for an uncertain fate. The Governor could choose to either approve or reject the document, or use his partial veto power to rewrite the bill.
Upon passage in the Senate, LeMahieu said that the Legislature had taken what he called “Governor Evers’ bloated, political document”, and turned it into a “responsible, bi-partisan success story for the state.” He said: “In addition to a transformational $3.4 billion tax cut, the Legislature made targeted investments in every essential function of state government including significant new money to schools, frontline healthcare workers, and a fully-funded transportation system all while maintaining historically low state spending.”
