Tyler Vorpagel, District 27 State Assembly Representative
27th District Republican State Representative Tyler Vorpagel of Plymouth on Thursday praised the passage in the Assembly of two bills that are unlikely to get past the Governor’s desk.
A bill that ensures that girls will not compete against transgender biological males was passed, and Vorpagel compared it to the passage of Title IX nearly 50 years ago. That bill ensured equal opportunities for women’s athletics in schools. If the bill passed on Thursday also passes the Senate, it would face a likely veto by Governor Evers.
The second bill passed on Thursday would prohibit the use of “Vaccine Passports” for COVID-19 by any public or private entity in the state. Vorpagel said “While I am vaccinated and I would encourage others to get vaccinated, it is a personal medical choice. Individuals should not be discriminated against due to their COVID-19 vaccination status.”
While at least 15 states now have such laws in place, the Governor has suggested that he would veto that legislation if it reached his desk.
