(WHBL) – A chemical plant fire just south of the Illinois border is expected to burn for days.
No one is saying just what started the fire Monday at the Chemtool plant in Rockton, Illinois. It was around 7am when fire crews were called to the plant following an explosion and subsequent fire.
People in southern Wisconsin can see the huge smoke plume from the fire and are expected to continue to see it for the next couple of days.
No one was hurt, though about 150 people who live or work within a mile of the plant were evacuated Monday.
Officials say about 60 firefighters from 18 Wisconsin fire departments are assisting.
