The number of active COVID-19 cases in Sheboygan County is at its lowest level since 44 were reported on July 7 last year. 48 cases are known by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health as of Monday’s daily update, with 4 new positive test results offset by 8 recoveries since Friday. In the same time span, 93 tests have returned negative. 13,874 cases in all have been recorded here during the pandemic, and 147 have lost their lives to the coronavirus.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services added 185 new cases since Friday, running the total up to 611,719. With a total of 7,208 deaths attributed to the disease, the toll has increased by 2 over the weekend. Deaths listed as “probable” in relation to COVID-19 have been stable at 807 since last Thursday.
The Wisconsin Hospital Association reports 125 patients are currently being treated for their symptoms of COVID-19, down 5 from Sunday, and a reduction of 18 since Friday. 39 of those are in ICU beds, and 393 patients across the state are using ventilators for life support.
A virtual town hall to address questions about vaccinating adolescent family members as young as age 12 is being promoted by the County DPH. The event is planned for 7-8 PM Thursday, June 17th and will be offered via zoom featuring health experts from the UW-Madison School of Medicine & Public Health, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and from the UW-Madison Extension Institute for Health & Well-Being.
